Scallop Shell Pendant
This scallop shell design was originally requested as a custom piece for Diana's aunt, who had just finished an 800km trek on the Camino de Santiago. The scallop shell, or Coquille Saint Jacques, is used as a trail marker for the Camino, and is thus cherished by many who have set foot across this pilgrimage. Hence this pendant is a great way to commemorate that long, challenging, spiritual journey.
Or, one might simply enjoy this pendant as a beautiful symbol of the ocean. Designed on the west coast, it is a keepsake made to honour the beauty of the ocean in all its wildness.
Diana's pendants can be paired with your choice of leather cord (your preferred length), sterling silver (16"-20"), or rose-gold plated (16" or 18") chain, or a cotton wax cord (a more casual look). Diana suggests wearing this pendant on a leather cord, made to your preferred length.
Each of Diana's creations have been made with high-quality borosilicate glass, and annealed in a kiln for maximum strength and stability. Borosilicate is a hard glass, similar in chemical composition to Pyrex and commonly used in medical grade glass equipment. Diana combines clear glass with coloured rods made by Trautman Art Glass, Northstar Glassworks, and Glass Alchemy to make beautiful pieces of wearable art.
